A bat (or bar) mitzva is a funny thing. You don't have to do anything; you just turn 12 and --poof-- you are bat mitzva: a Jewish adult, responsible for all of your actions.
But, a bat mitzva is more than that, of course. It is also a chance to throw a party, entertain friends and family, and demostrate how ready you are to join the adult community. Last week, Aviva did all of this, and did it with grace and aplomb!
We started with a party and break-fast Thursday night (March 17th 2011) at the Reishit Center, followed by Shabbat Zachor at Netzach Menashe, including a community kiddush and meals for family and a few close friends.
Finally, Saturday night was purim and Aviva read the megilla (perakim 1-2 and 9-10) beautifully.
Here are pictures, video presentations, and speeches to capture some of our wonderful memories.
